Winsted Woods 5-17-09
All right, I'm a little behind with this report, but here you go. I thought it was a good race, tough yes, but good. Definitely the hardest course so far this year. The mud had pretty much dried up on most of the course with the exception of the obvious mud pits. What I thought was cool was that the mud in most of the single track corners had been pushed up into little berms that actually made the corners pretty fast. That wasn't the case every where, there were still plenty of slimy roots and rocks to keep you on your toes. There was a lot of grumbling before the race about how cold it was. As far as I'm concerned, that was nearly the perfect temperature. "Back in my day" we only rode our mountain bikes in the fall when the weather was cool and we rode the road during the summer, but that was then, this is now.
Jonathan looked like he'd been kicked when I passed him on the last lap, he ended up getting 6th. (he says he was sick all week)
Frank had a solid ride, all those crits are helping, he finished 15th.
Rob was riding happy as ever as you can see in the video. He really likes to ride his mountain bike, you can tell. Too bad he ended up flatting on the last lap and went out with a DNF.
I made the podium for the first time this year in third. I was really happy with that since I really didn't think I would do that well.
Thanks Karensa for the bottles, everybody really appreciates the help.
